Julie Gentile, CPA

Julie has been a licensed CPA in California for over twenty-five years.  Julie holds a Bachelor’s Degree, in Accounting from California State University, Long Beach, which is where she and Patrick became friends.  She also holds a Master’s in Business Taxation as well as a Master’s in Business Administration and has completed her Doctoral Studies in Philosophy.  Julie began her career in public accounting with KPMG Peat Marwick, a multi-national CPA firm. She left public accounting to become the Tax Director at a nationwide healthcare provider.   Julie has been a full-time professor at Glendale Community College and California State University, Long Beach, for over fifteen years.  She has specialized in the income tax area most of her career, however, she has taught all levels and types of accounting courses, in addition to several general business courses.  Julie also serves on the Boards of the Santa Anita Family YMCA, the Duarte Chamber of Commerce, the Kiwanis Club of Monrovia, and Monrovia Reads.

Patrick McCloskey Partner and Co-Founder

Patrick McCloskey, CPA

PARTNER & CO-FOUNDER

Patrick has been a licensed CPA in California for over ten years. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree, in Accounting from California State University, Long Beach. He also has a Juris Doctorate from Abraham Lincoln University of Law.  Patrick began his career in public accounting at Arthur Andersen, formerly a “Big 8” accounting firm.  He left public accounting to start his own internet service provider and computer retail store, which he ran near Chicago, for over ten years.  Patrick maintains a California Real Estate Broker’s license, and was also an adjunct accounting professor at Glendale Community College, teaching audit, cost accounting, and Quick Books. Patrick currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of SCE Federal Credit Union and volunteers for his daughter’s Girl Scout troop.

In 2015 Jim Rider’s CPA practice was acquired by Gentile, McCloskey and Company and merged into our practice.  Prior to this Jim had his own local firm for over ten years.  Jim has been a licensed CPA in California for over 24 years.  He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from California State University, Fullerton. He also holds a Master’s in Business Taxation.  Jim has served on the Enforcement Advisory Committee of the California Board of Accountancy. He has also been an adjunct professor at both California State University, Fullerton and the University of California, Los Angeles.  Jim is also an active community member, coaching baseball at a local high school, and is an active member of the Rotary Club.

Jonathan has been with the firm since early 2010.  Prior to joining our firm Jonathan was a Staff Accountant for a local CPA firm in the Los Angeles area.  Jonathan has more than ten years’ experience in the tax and general accounting areas and is an expert in Quick Books.  Jonathan handles many of our more challenging clients, and assists in supervising and training other staff.  He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and is currently working towards completing his IRS Enrolled Agent Certification.

Amy has been with the firm since 2015.  She came to us from a Senior Accountant position in a local CPA firm.  Amy holds a Bachelor’s degree in accounting from California State University, Long beach and is an Enrolled Agent with the Internal Revenue Service.  Amy is one of our tax preparers and also coordinates, or completes, most of our bookkeeping engagements.  She has over ten years of experience in the accounting and tax fields, and plays a pivotal role in our problem resolution services.

Mary has been with the firm since early 2016.  She was previously a Tax Professional Assistant and Staffing Coordinator at a local consulting firm.  Mary holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from California University of Business Technology.  She is currently studying to become an Enrolled Agent with the IRS, and continues to work towards her CPA Certificate.  Mary is one of our tax preparers and also leads the office in technology support.  Mary has great experience in customer service, project management, and tax preparation support.

Kristin Warren, Office Manager

Office Manager

Kristin had been with the firm since early 2012.  She came to us after working in the escrow field for more than eight years.  Kristin is responsible for maintaining our office appointment calendar, assisting clients and making sure we all stay on track. Kristin is also a California Notary. Kristin was instrumental in starting the Blue Star Families support group in Monrovia and also volunteers for various community and charitable organizations.  The key to a smooth operation is having someone great at the front desk, and we do.
